The 2025 PDC Qualifying Schools kicked off in dramatic fashion on Monday, with over 800 players vying for the opportunity to secure their places on the PDC circuit. The First Stage began at two venues: Milton Keynes and Kalkar, marking the start of an intense journey for players hoping to earn a coveted Tour Card.
Running from January 6-8, the First Stage of PDC Qualifying School sees players from around the world competing for a spot in the Final Stage, where they will have the chance to earn a two-year Tour Card from January 9-12. Eight players per day will progress from each venue, with additional spots up for grabs through the First Stage Order of Merit in each region.
Brooks, McGuirk, and Hopp Shine on Day One
In Milton Keynes, the opening day of the UK Qualifying School saw former World Youth Champion Bradley Brooks take centre stage, showcasing impressive form with averages of 108, 102, and 107 across his matches.
His consistency and skill on the board saw him through to the Final Stage, alongside Shane McGuirk, who was in fine form after recently being crowned WDF Champion. McGuirk averaged 105, securing his place in the next round.
The UK qualifiers were rounded off by Adam Paxton, Lewis Pride, Peter Burgoyne, Tommy Morris, Jason Wilson, and Jack Tweddell, who all earned their spots in the Final Stage.
In Europe, Max Hopp, a two-time PDC ranking title winner, was one of the standout performers of the day. The German star conceded only four legs in his first five games, making light work of his opponents to secure a place in the Final Stage. Hopp’s dominant performance was a clear reminder of his class and experience on the PDC circuit.
Alongside Hopp, Gilbert van der Meijden from the Netherlands impressed with an average of 101, earning his place in the next stage, as did his compatriot Jeroen Mioch.
Other players who advanced through the European Qualifying School on Monday included Leon Weber (Germany), Stefaan Henderyck (Belgium), Jorge Garcia del Pozo (Spain), Dalibor Smolik (Czech Republic), and Tomislav Rosandic (Croatia).
